Cervelo Rocks!

Well it's been a couple of months riding the Cervelo Soloist 2 frame, and I have to admit that the carbon frame really rocks. I broke a 56 km TT course record today, which I set a few years ago, and that really hurt at my age (47). But what the hell, you only die once. My old record was 38.7km/hr, and the new record is 38.9 km/hr. I know it's only 0.2 km/hr faster, but at my age I will take any increment.

The biggest problem with pushing your body to extremes is that you are operating in a state of oxygen deprivation, on the anaerobic threshold, and you start to lose your sensibilities. This is not good when you are riding a bike in traffic. I took a few liberties with red lights and there were a couple of moments of mental failure due to crossing the anaerobic threshold for too long. Passing out is not a good option at 40 km/hr. Please consult your physician if you are going to attempt to stick your head into a pot of boiling water.

Here are some pictures of me trying to recover. I am sure I will be sore as hell tomorrow. And one picture of me hanging onto my wife's truck feeling like shit, but with a smile. Cervelo Rocks!

Recovery shot one. Legs all gone.

Hurting bad.

Already thinking I can crack 39 km/hr for the summer of 2010.
